Science Museum of Virginia

In effort to stop being a creature of habit I stopped hibernating and visited Science Museum of Virginia. I love what many people would label as geeky or nerdy. I enjoy science, history, dinosaur, art gallery, sci-fi and reading. So a visit to the museum was long overdue. They closed early due to a private event. Therefore I was not able to see all the exhibits. Will be returning next month to finish tour and check out their new planetarium. However the 3 hours I spent there were fun and worth my $11. Below are some of my highlights.
Free video games are always fun. Also designed my own dinosaur. Just realized I colored mine purple, like Barney.
This was by far my favorite exhibit. It's called a "Science on a Sphere". They hold 30 minute lectures. I was the only one at the lecture, which allowed us to chit chat with no interruptions. There is a movie projector shaped into a sphere and it projects real time images of earth. Really fucking cool. The top right corner and the bottom left corner are real images of Earth and The Milky Way. Images below right corner and below left corner are images of the moon and the sun. Don't remember what the other images represent, it's something like weather and temperatures. Was having too much fun to take notes. This lecture alone is worth the visit.
Got to use some microscopes to view butterflies. Felt like Bernadette from Big Bang Theory. My weight if I were on Mars. Touched a real meteorite.
A real railroad track sign with my favorite number. My favorite souvenir is turning a penny into a small piece of artwork. I've collected these from all over the U.S. and this trip was no different. How clever is the Dr. Evil poster to illustrate the use of lasers.

I've complied a list of places to visit to keep this momentum going. My resolutions are growing slowly but surely. :)
